A Research Report:

COVID-19 as a Challenge to Leadership

In March 2020 amidst the COVID-19 crisis, we at Conversant became very interested in the radical evolution leaders and organizations were facing worldwide. We know that we are smarter and more resilient together than we are apart, so we decided to reach out and conduct interviews with global leaders to get their perspectives and insight. We asked about what they were noticing, learning, challenged, and surprised by about their organizations and leading in this time.

We learned quickly that the challenges leaders were facing have changed at an unprecedented pace due to the dynamic nature of COVID-19 globally. As a result, we have decided to create this digital space for us to share what we are learning as it comes and for others, like you, to contribute your own perspectives, questions, and ideas. As we continue to learn, we will share those updates here.

Our analysis is based on responses from leaders in diverse industries, primarily in senior positions, located in North & South America, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, Africa & the Asia Pacific region. We are very grateful to these incredibly busy leaders who gave generously of their time and thinking so that all of us might learn from one another as we move through the challenges of our current global reality.

Research Themes

Based on the responses, we have identified five prominent areas of commitment and concern. In each of the five areas there are practices working well & interest in ideas from other leaders:
